Jeff Shih, a co-founder of Evergrand Trading, is a qualified Information Engineer who graduated from the University of Johannesburg in 2008. His career began at MIT in 2009, a Taiwanese vehicle parts importer as a Warehouse Manager. After a year there he was called to serve his mandatory year of Military in Taiwan. He then remained in Taiwan for another year working in the insurance industry as well as part-timing in as vehicle dealer and property agent. He also worked at NEC (Japanese multinational provider of information technology services and products) as an IT engineer. He moved back to South Africa in 2012 where he worked for a Japanese second hand vehicle importer.

Jeff’s spark however came after identifying a major opportunity in the form of energy efficient lighting solutions at the Canton Fair in China. He quickly found a means to finance his idea and started importing energy efficient lighting products into South Africa through his father’s plastic moulding business, Golden Star. In 2013 Jeff secure his first client, the City of Ekurhuleni, and was then able to hire 10 sales agents and sell 15 containers of products in that same year.

Having found a passion for the lighting industry and after much success the previous year, Jeff went on to register his own company Shiny Star (Pty) Ltd in 2014. That same year he secured more than 70 clients and more than 50 containers, including contracts with Sasol, the City of Tshwane and the City of Ekurhuleni, with a combined value of over R40 million. The company continued to grow rapidly and in 2016 Jeff created a new joint business, Evergrand Trading, with Loyiso Mkulisi and Linda Mkhize who are both highly successful businessmen with aligned passions for renewable energy.

Loyiso is an entrepreneur who has had extensive work experience in the marketing and sales space with two multi-nationals. His working experience combined in the corporate space is more than 15 years. Over the years, Loyiso has developed core skills in all areas of marketing and business development, subsequently ventured into business in 2005 where he registered his own Close Corporation Fullswing Trading 458 which he is the Managing Member.

In his new venture he started doing business in telecommunications as Super Dealer for telecoms manufacturing company as well as one of the multinational cellular network companies. He marketed and sold their technologies to emerging businesses. He later joined Fullswing Energy Solutions as a Director Operations, where he explored opportunities in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy space. Fullswing have been playing in the energy efficiency and renewable space since 2007. Fullswing have implemented a host of successful projects.

Loyiso teamed up in 2016 with Jeff Shih and Linda Mkhize to form Evergrand Trading, the combined vessel of all three directors intellectual property.

Linda studied towards a Bachelor of Commerce (Law) degree at the University of Durban Westville (UDW).

He has always had an eye for opportunities and after running many successful small companies he soon felt the need to enter into ventures that both change lives and have proven profitable. Linda quickly identified a gap within the energy space in 2011, particularly when it became apparent that Eskom was not able to sustain power supply to the entire country.

Linda has since formed Real Time Trading and Projects (RTP) which is a solutions based company for energy supply. RTP over the last 5 years, managed projects that were successfully implemented within an agreed scope of work. Real Time Trading currently has contracts with various Municipalities as well as the Department of Energy. Through these contracts, RTP is responsible for the supply and installation of technology that assist with reduction in electricity consumption.

In 2016 Linda joined forces with Jeff Shih and Loyiso Mkulisi to form Evergrand Trading, as a collaborative effort to implement Smart Renewable Technology in Africa.
